Dr Ahmad practices general otolaryngology with clinical interests in Head and Neck, Salivary, thyroid, Nasal and sinus diseases including general ENT problems in children and adults.
He is an experienced sialendoscopist and is a faculty member of international society of Sialendoscopists, Geneva, Switzerland with active involvement in teaching and conducting workshops in Sialendoscopy.

He is on the editorial board of four medical journals related to medical and surgical fields.

His thesis for Masters was on adenoids and middle ear diseases in children and this was approved and awarded masters degree in 1983.

He has lectured in a number of scientific meetings and has been a Key-Note Lecturer in several International Meetings. He participates and instructs in international workshops focussing on management of salivary diseases and sinus problems. He has about 75 Publications in peer reviewed international journals and written chapters in a few text books.
He is the Chief editor of recently published 3-volume textbook entitled “Symptom Oriented Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery”
He is actively involved in teaching and examining undergraduate and postgraduate medical scholars and teaches masters of audiology scholars and supervises PhD scholars.

Dr Ahmad was born in Kashmir (India) and after graduation and post-graduation left and has travelled widely before falling in love with New Zealand and made it his home.

He is supported by his wife, two sons, three granddaughters and a grandson. He has passion for playing golf and enjoys playing the game on most of the weekends. He enjoys listening to classical music and at times enjoys singing in social gatherings.

Profile

Dr Collins graduated from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School in London. She completed her ENT surgical training in the North-East of England in 2001.

In 2001, she underwent further specialised Fellowship training in Otology and Neuro-otology in Adelaide Australia, with Dr Michael Schultz.
Dr Collins was appointed as a Consultant Otologist to Salisbury and Southampton University Hospitals, UK in 2002 and developed a regional ear surgery practice there, including the Cleft Palate service and Bone Anchored Hearing Aid service.

Dr Collins moved to Auckland with her family in 2011 to help provide otology services to the population of Waitemata region. She is one of the specialists in ENT Group Ltd.

Interests

Dr Collins specialises in surgery for chronic otitis media (perforations), cholesteatoma, exostoses (swimmer’s ears) and hearing loss (stapedectomy, ossicular chain reconstruction and bone anchored hearing aids). She is an adult cochlear implant surgeon with NCIP.

She has trained in the use of lasers and endoscopes in ear surgery.

She has published several peer reviewed research articles and has a particular interest in postgraduate training.

Profile

Michael Davison was trained at Otago University, graduating in 1986. His ORL training was in NZ, and he gained the FRACS in 1995.

After a post fellowship year in Australia, Michael took up a position in 1997 with Waitemata DHB at North Shore Hospital helping to establish the ORL Department.  He also held appointments at Auckland DHB within the ORL and Neurosurgical Departments.  Michael has held these roles for 25 years and more recently was also Clinical Director ORL Waitemata DHB.

Michael continues a busy private practice  based at the Lakeside Specialist Centre in Takapuna focusing on the areas below.

Profile

Dr Earles is a New Zealand and internationally trained specialist Otolaryngologist - Head & Neck Surgeon. Dr Joseph Earles graduated from the University of Otago School of Medicine and completed his specialist training to become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He subsequently undertook further subspecialty training by completing a fellowship in head and neck surgery at the prestigious Yale University. He is the only surgeon from the southern hemisphere to do so. This fellowship involved training under world-renowned surgeons and concentrated on all aspects of complex head and neck cancer surgery, including advanced reconstruction with microvascular free flaps.

At the end of his fellowship, Dr Earles was appointed as a full-time faculty member and surgeon at Yale University. He had a busy head and neck surgery practice at Yale and was actively involved in research as well as training junior doctors and medical students. Although he greatly enjoyed his work at Yale, it became apparent that New Zealand was the best place to raise children, and he and his family returned to New Zealand in late 2020. He has attended surgical training courses at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital, Columbia University and Harvard University.

Profile

Dr Mahadevan was born in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and underwent secondary school and medical college education initially in Sri Lanka. The family migrated to New Zealand in 1983 as refugees and he subsequently graduated from the University of Auckland, School of Medicine (MBChB). Subsequent postgraduate training was undertaken in New Zealand as an ENT surgeon. He attained the Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1995 (FRACS).

Further post fellowship training in paediatric ENT was gained at Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne 1996 and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London 1997.

He returned following fellowship training to work in New Zealand in 1998. He now works half time in both the public and private sector. He is ex - Clinical Director / Surgeon at Starship Children's Hospital and is the Associate Professor with the Department of Surgery and Department of Paediatrics, University of Auckland. His main practice is located at Maranui Clinic and Gillies Hospital at present and at Kakariki Hospital and clinics from mid-2023, He also operates at Ascot and Mercy Hospitals and has a branch practice at Warkworth.

His subspecialty interest is all aspects of paediatric ENT, vascular malformations, and neck lumps. He also has extensive experience in adult nasal and sinus surgery.

David is a voice, upper airway and swallow specialist in Auckland, New Zealand.

A graduate of the University of Auckland, David completed his training in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in 2004, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He then spent two years in the USA in post Fellowship subspecialty training: one year of Head and Neck Surgery and Laryngology at the University of California at Irvine, and one year of Laryngology at the University of Washington in Seattle. David returned home to New Zealand in 2007 to take up a consultant position at Auckland City Hospital.
